I had ALIF on a Friday and 2 days later the PLIF, a total of 16 hours of surgery! I am now 2 months post-op and with proper pain management and physical therapy, my recovery is going really well. I recently had a follow-up with Dr. Cleveland and he says it's a successful surgery: everything is in place, and bones are fusing. I still have a journey to fully recovery, to be able to do all the activities that I used to do, (Dancing, yoga, and cycling ), but everyday I can do a little more! You gave me my life back, Dr. Cleveland! I see pictures of my spine and it's a masterpiece...You are truly a Michelangelo!

  • The beginning of September 2021 I blew out my disc in my neck, C-6 / C-7. The disc was compressing a nerve on my right side which was causing sever pain down through my shoulder blade into my right arm down to my lower arm. My index finger and the one next too were about 80% numb. After completing all the necessary radiology reports through the Orthopedic clinic , Dr. Cleveland spoke to me about ding a neck fusion surgery to correct the blown disc. He provided me detailed information on the fusion works, surgery, and recovery time. the decided to have the surgery on October 5, 2021. The surgery was very successful. When I came out of the anesthesia I immediately noticed the numbing in the finger next to my index finger was gone and so was the nerve pain. Over the next three days the numbing in my index finger subsided and has not returned. Dr. Cleveland was instrumental in my surgery and my recovery now through six weeks. I am six weeks post-operation with no nerve pain or numbness. I would highly recommend Dr. Cleveland in the Orthopedic Clinic for spine or neck surgery. He has a great team that works with him.

  • For about 17 years I had back problems relating from an injury while I was on active duty. I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Cleveland after being referred by my PCM. Dr. Cleveland did not hesitate to diagnose my back problems and told me I was a candidate for surgery. His willingness to help me with my problem has changed my quality of life and I am able to sleep at night without any pain. I recommend Dr. Cleveland to anyone who is suffering with back pain. He cares about his patients.

  • Excellent Care. I have 20 years of service and 16 years of active duty. I came to WBAMC with chronic neck pain for over 11years; associated with service injury. Initially I was a candidate for a medical board. However, my desire was to seek treatment and return to duty (RTD). I saw Dr Cleveland with in 2 weeks of making an Ortho appointment. He was very helpful in describing all of my options. He ordered additional X-Rays to ensure which was the most viable options. Within 2 weeks of my initial visit I was in for a cervical orthoplasty. Within 2weeks of surgery I’m on schedule for full recovery and expect to RTD in the near future. Thank you Dr Cleveland and the excellent care staff at WBAMC.

  • I spent 29 years in the military and retired in 2014. I have had several surgeries at the old WBAMC and always with positive results. For the last 15+ years I have lived with back pain. On the 9th of August the pain became so debilitating that my wife took me to the WBAMC emergency room. The ER staff was wonderful. They gave me medication to help relieve the pain while they got me in for an MRI, which revealed that I was in need of surgery. Two days later they got me an appointment with Dr. Andrew Cleveland at WBAMC Orthopedic clinic. Dr. Cleveland explained my condition and recommended surgery. He clearly articulated what the problem was, what he could do, and what the possible outcomes could be. I opted for the surgery and a few days later I arrived at WBAMC for surgery. I was wheeled into surgery at 0730, and at 1430 I walked out of the building pain free. The entire staff was wonderful, from Stephanie at the front desk to the recovery nurses, Jerry, Carlos, Andrea, OR nurses, Mishka & Rueben and the PACU nurse Sonia, LTC Brian W. Cooley, anesthesiologist, Cpt William Lassiter, recovery anesthesia, the radiology team and Delores who got me ready to go home. Everyone was wonderful and I really appreciate the care and treatment they gave me. I have lived with back pain for so long, it was difficult to imagine being pain free, but now thanks to Dr. Cleveland and the entire staff at WBAMC, I am pain free and looking forward to a new normal living without pain. If you are reading this, are living with back pain, I highly recommend Dr. Andrew W. Cleveland.

  • I just wanted to thank the staff at WAMC. I was there for back surgery due to a herniated disc. Not only did the Orthopedic staff take great care of me, but also the surgery staff was amazing as well. I'd like to thank Dr. Cleveland and his team for the outstanding patient care that they gave me. WAMC has renewed my faith in military care as everything from the facilities , to the food, to the care was excellent.

  • This review is specifically for Dr Cleveland Andrew. I had back, hip and leg pain for over a year. Tried everything I was referred to in vain and ultimately depended on pain meds. I was being bounced around from doctor to doctor with no solution forthcoming and became so miserable almost depressed. The pain kept getting worse and when I finally got a referral to see Dr. Philip from family medicine which was so hard to get, he saw how miserable my case was, he immediately referred me to Dr. cleaveland who made time within his busy schedule to see me the same day, reviewed my case and he immediately recommended surgery. He was able to squeeze me in for surgery on my back within three business days. This was the most efficient and fast response to treatment I ever gotten from Womack. All the efforts to see a surgeon had failed within the last several months as I would get a referral but they would tell me there is no chance for an appointment. I was impressed with his expertise and the level of details he provided regarding the problem and procedure he intended to perform. He gave me hope and the stereotype saying that military doctors doesn’t care much, he doesn’t fall in that category because he genuinely cared and listened to all my concerns explaining every detail. Dr. Cleveland if you ever read this thank you very much and may you continue helping so many Soldiers and thanks to Dr Philip as well. I will not forget the lady who prepared me for surgery, she was very kind, gentle, encouraging she even went ahead and numbed my IV area. She was a real professional but sadly didn’t get her name, she told me she had 20 yrs in as a nurse and I think she had a nickname of ‘mad’ not sure of the spelling , she even sang slowly as she did her job which was very calming . Overall I had awesome care in the hands and expertise of Dr Cleveland and his crew in 2N. I’m healing now and hope for the best. Otieno

  • I am not normally a reviewer and poster but my recent surgical experience at Womack truly deserves discussion. Two weeks ago I had cervical spine surgery that required both anterior and posterior entry. I haven't had surgery since I was 15 years old in 1977 so I was a little apprehensive. The orthopedic spine surgery team, led by Dr. Cleveland, did a great job walking me through the problems, imagery, options, risks, and potential benefits of the proposed surgery and treatments. I have zero medical background but they worked hard to help me understand what is a life-altering decision. I had confidence in them when I decided to go forward with the procedure. Post operation, I also had a great experience, first the ICU, where I spent a short time so that they could monitor me more closely since I had spent such a long time in the OR, then on the floor on 2 North. Both had excellent, attentive staffs that are well trained and fully patient oriented. I was also so very grateful as to how well my wife was treated. She was kept informed throughout the 9.5 hours of surgery and treated like family during the 3 plus days spent inpatient until discharge. I have a long recovery ahead but I truly think that the care I received has put me on a path toward a healthier, more pain free life. I spent nearly 35 years in the military and am very grateful we retired near an excellent hospital like Womack Army Medical Center . Well done folks and please accept the thanks and gratitude of this Army family.

  • I had many appointments for neck and back issues that were plaguing me since November of 2017. I have seen four civilian providers to treat my condition. I was given an epidural, physical therapy, NSAIDs and nothing worked. I kept getting rescheduled for follow up appointments until Womack Orthopedics called and said the surgeon is back and I had an appointment on 27 August. The day after my appointment the cervical arthroplasty procedure was completed by Dr. Cleveland. Dr. Cleveland and his staff were professional and compassionate. My brother passed away the day of my surgery. Emotionally I broke down and the staff allowed me to grieve and were genuinely concerned about my well being. I appreciate being treated as a person instead of a Soldier. The surgery I believe was a success. If I had my choice I would use Dr. Cleveland again for my next procedure. I thanked him and the staff at least 20 times before I left.

  • Recently herniated a disk which caused nerve damage resulting in loss of strength in my right foot and leg. I did not understand the severity of my condition until talking with Dr. Andrew Cleveland and his staff in Orthopedics. I tried a last minute treatment prior to surgery (epidural steroids) which did not work. Dr. Cleveland was adamant to get the surgery done to relieve the pressure off my nerve to lessen the chance of permanent damage. So much so that he performed my scheduled surgery last Monday (17SEP18 with another similar case) during Hurricane Florence. All the staff at the hospital were professional, courteous, and very informative throughout my stay. Pre-op, Anesthesiologists, nurses at 2 North and most of all Dr. Cleveland were spectacular. Was walking around 2 North post surgery. If you have back issues, go see Dr. Cleveland and his staff and listen to his advice. You will not go wrong. Thanks again to all the staff at WOMACK Army Medical Center. Shawn Fairleigh

  • On January 17, 2018 I underwent L5-S1 spinal fusion surgery through the orthopedic department at WAMC. Dr. Andrew Cleveland III was my surgeon for the operation. Dr. Cleveland executed his work in the most professional manner possible. He is a prime example of someone who has mastered their skill. Before, during, and after surgery, the care and concern provided was very outstanding. Dr. Cleveland thoroughly expressed his concern on a regular basis post-op and was extremely consistent in ensuring the short, mid, and long term recovery was going as planned. I am currently 8 months into recovery and I can not express how satisifed I am with the results. I am painless and can now begin to live a normal life again. I highly recommend Dr. Cleveland and his team to anyone requiring an orthopedic surgery such as this.

  • Best Orthopedic clinic! Over the last year, I have been in and out of family practice for neck pain, shoulder pain, and numbness in my right arm. Their inability to diagnose promptly is a separate story. What I can say is that through the right channels I was able to get to the Orthopedics department where I met MAJ Andrew Cleveland M.D. Pinched nerves in my c-4- c-6 were the culprit and DR. Cleveland was able to give me a few options to address my issues. I went with the spinal fusion and in a matter of a week and a few days I was in for surgery. The treatment that I received was the best care that I have ever had in my 31 years of being treated at Army hospitals. Dr. Cleveland and his team had kept me well informed, were direct, punctual, and thankfully precise. The surgery was successful, and I have had absolutely no nerve pain since. It doesn’t stop there…. Post care has been just as good. Anytime I called for a question I received a call back that very day if not answered right away. Nurse Rachel treated me as if I was the only patient and ensured that there was no wait to my medicine refills. Again, this is my life, my livelihood, and I can’t say thank you enough to Dr. Cleveland and his entire team.

  • My husband Brian had laminectomy procedure beginning of Sept and we had excellent treatment pre surgery, hospitalization, post surgery, and great results. The people from pre-op to post-op were fantastic. Exceptional high marks to Major Cleveland, spine surgeon who thoroughly explained everything in details and spent time answering our questions. He sat with us everyday in hospital to explain what was next plan of action. We are very appreciative of all who took care.of Brian.

  • Dr. Cleveland and his staff are outstanding! I recently had back surgery and was a little apprehensive but all went very well. From the moment I showed up until I was discharged I was treated with utmost respect and professionalism. The best experience that I have ever had in a Army hospital! Also, I had to return to the ER within the next couple days and again it was outstanding! Thank you!!!

  • I’ve heard horror stories about Womack, and I was kind if doubtful at first, but to my surprise my experience at Womack was very pleasant. Dr. Cleveland performed surgery on my spine. He was very professional, and thorough with his explanation of the procedure. Post-op, he came to check on me twice a day to see how I was doing, and to answer any questions I may have had. The nursing staff during my stay was amazing, they were very friendly, and they were very attentive to my needs. Everything they did was quick, and done in a timely matter. I really was pleased and impressed with my time at Womack. They did a great job with my care.

  • When it comes to the hard stuff Womack gets it right. I just had spine surgery under the care of Dr Cleveland. He is one of five in the Army and did a great job. I had a discectomy and treatment with Nu Cell (amniotic cell therapy) that you generally won't get anywhere else. Not only that but after care has been great. I stayed a few days and the staff was mostly very attentive lieutenant RNs. They even called me the day after I got home to make sure I felt well. Clean and timely all the way through. I couldn't ask for more thank you Womack!

  • I recently had back surgery at Womack Army Medical Center. The level of care I received was exceptional. Through the Patient Administration Unit, Pre-Op unit, and recovery I was treated with the utmost respect and dignity. All my questions were answered and concerns alleviated. Dr. Cleveland made sure I understood everything about the procedure and checked on me daily. A special shoutout goes to Team All American especially the three nurses who cared for me during my stay.

  • Dr. Cleveland is a superb doctor in every way. Very knowledgeable, explained everything in a way that could be easily understood. He was up front about my neck situation and the pros and cons of the surgical procedure. He thoroughly explained my options and possible outcomes and was able to address all of my concerns. All of the above made me very comfortable in choosing cervical fusion of C6 & C7 ACDF surgery. Dr. Cleveland worked very hard to work me into his very busy schedule. The ACDF surgery outcome and quick recovery exceeded my expectations. Thanks to the men and women of 2 North, nurses and staff, anesthesiologist, nurse anesthetists, occupational therapist, physical therapist, pharmacist, and Dr. Cleveland. I feel very fortunate to have had my medical procedure performed at Womack Army Medical Center. Kenneth R. Elliott MSgt, USAF, Ret.

  • Womack has been hands down the best medical treatment I've received while in the Army. This was a direct reflection of the unit to organizational level systems in place to facilitate administrative and treatment efficiency. My PA performed an outstanding job and was able to contact the Orthopedics clinic which immediately initiated a treatment chain within three weeks. I was beyond fortunate to receive an immediate consult based on my injury. Dr. Cleveland instantly impressed me not only with his extensive knowledge and background, but he voluntarily assumed a greater workload by seeing me in his off hours so he would not impact other patients. His amazing staff superbly manages his schedule and got me into surgery nearly a week later. I've had surgeries at multiple installations in the Army and can legitimately say this was the best experience I've ever had. CPT Gisla, the anesthesiologist, flawlessly performed his duties to the point I had no issues once I woke up. Every nurse from pre-op to post op was exceptionally trained, compentent, and empathetic. Dr. Cleveland ensured I was updated every step of the way and physical therapy immediately gave me an initial plan with assistance. Nurses like Marcia and Abigail performed flawless pain management and displayed outstanding professional skills. In the big picture, their efforts are greatly contributing to helping our unit maintain sustainable readiness and are getting me healthy again as quickly as possible so that we can meet future deployment requirements as a team. I am fortunate for getting the opportunity to serve in my unit at Fort Bragg because everyone, from my chain of command to the medical community, has genuinely cared about mission readiness as well as individual/collective sustainment. I sincerely thank everyone during this process and their efforts increase my confidence in a rapid recovery.

  • Dr Cleveland performed an L5/S1 Spinal Fusion Anterior/posterior on me 2 days ago ... I was a difficult case due to the extreme angle that my spine had shifted forward collapsing the disc and impinging on my nerves, and I’ve dealt with the problem for several years seeking help thru the VA which was great and hitting all the marks Phy therapy, chiropractic, and finally pain management, but the pain continued to ramp up to the point I sought other care first from a civilian provider then to Womack where a plan came together quickly. The surgery was fine day 1 I still had some residual nerve pain that at day 2 was nonexistent, the Staff In 2N where I recovered is terrific the best nurses and food I’ve ever had or seen in a hospital. A special shout out the LT Abby Blakeman my Nurse. Great care and experience! Womack Ortho is hands down the best ortho care I have ever experienced. They have put this old Paratrooper back together several times over my career and i recommend them unhesitatingly!

  • L5-S1 left decompression discectomy Lumbar or thoracic posterior micodiscectomy Dr. Cleveland did a wonderful job on my surgery. I would recommend to anyone that’s having problems with bulging disc lower back and sciatic nerve pain. I’ve been experiencing this since end of November 2018. I kept going to see my primary provider after x-rays nothing shown, months physical therapy temporary solution to the problem, finally the physical therapist put me in for a MRI and after the results I was referred to Dr. Cleveland’s office. Awesome staff (Rachel his nurse). Dr. Cleveland explained everything that was going on with my lover back and referred me to pain management of course, the epidural didn’t help at all. I am so glad that I decided to move forward with the surgery. No pain since the surgery just soreness in my back but that’s to be expected afterwards. Highly recommends this surgery by Dr. Cleveland at WOMACK. He’s well attentive and make sure you are taken care and made sure my spouse fully understood everything.

  • I underwent spinal surgery on 09 July 2019 with Dr Cleveland from the ortho clinic. Out of the numerous surgeries that I have underwent inside of a military hospital, Dr Cleveland and his staff and the surgical staff at Womack has been the best experience I have had. I was treated with a great deal of respect and courtesy, as a patient and not a problem. I would highly recommend this team of professionals for any surgical needs. The command has a great team on board and I hope they can retain them and provide even more to support our military men and women and their families!

  • I just recently had spine surgery on 13 August 2019 with Dr. Andrew Cleveland. Let me tell you, the decision to have surgery didn’t come easy for me. I was very reluctant and even contemplated having the procedure at a different military facility. I’m glad I didn’t! I would first like to thank Dr. Cleveland’s personal nurse Rachel that helped me when he was away. I recently suffered a change in my condition and she explained to me that Dr. Cleveland was out of the office, but she would reach out to him for guidance. She called me back almost immediately requesting some follow-on testing. Two days after the testing, Dr. Cleveland contacted me and told me I required surgery. Dr. Cleveland’s bedside manner far exceeded my expectations. It also changed my perception about some not so pleasant encounters at Womack by other providers. I appreciate his attention to detail and explaining the surgical procedure thoroughly to me as well as providing me with facts about what may await me in the future. Dr. Cleveland and his surgical team members ROCK!!!! Seriously, you guys are the best. I may not remember much, but from what I can remember you tried your best to meet all of my request. My sincere gratitude goes out to the entire Womack team that took care of me during my surgery and hospital stay (PAU, Pre-op, OR, PACU, and 2N). Everyone was very professional and caring. It is hard to explain the feeling of being relatively pain free when you have suffered from pain for so long, but that’s what I feel. It’s like a breath of fresh air!. If you have to have spine surgery at WAMC, Dr. Andrew Cleveland is your man. I can’t promise you the same surgical results, but I can guarantee you that the care he provides his patients ranks up there with the best!

  • Very impressed with the staff and my Doctor. Dr. Cleveland did an amazing job conducting cervical Spine surgery fusion of C5 trough C7. Last year I had surgery at Duke Hospital and honestly this hospital is as good as Duke but with a better service. They constantly check on me and ensure that I had a pleasant experience throughout my stay. Also, the surgery took care of all my pain and symptoms life changing experience.

  • Dr. Cleveland and spine surgery I suffered a bad back injury and after xrays did not reveal much I was given an MRI. Turns out I needed spinal decompression and Dr. Cleveland was able to help me get fixed up. From the first time I met him and he described everything that was going on, I knew I was making the right decision with him and his team. Since the operation, the numbness and pain in my leg has subsided greatly. All the nurses and the entire staff treated me as if I was their only patient. Very thankful for such a wonderful team. Everything was clean and I was kept informed of how it was all going. Hope I don’t need surgery again but if I do, I know where to go. Highly recommend Dr. Cleveland and WAMC if you need surgery for your spine.

Every member of the team did an outstanding job. Dr Cleveland thoroughly explained the pre-op and post-op course and expectations. Angela and Allison in the ortho clinic were extremely helpful and kept the process efficient. Additionally, the perioperative and surgery ward staff were very respectful, knowledgeable, and took very good care of me during my hospital stay. I would highly recommend Dr Cleveland and his team.

  • I had a cervical disc replacement surgery yesterday performed by doctor Andrew Cleveland. I had been living with complete arm numbness and pain for the last six months. One day I had the pain and after the surgery the pain and numbness was immediately gone. Dr. Cleveland and the nursing staff did a phenomenal job taking care of me throughout the whole process. I’ll be honest, I almost asked for a referral to Duke until I talked to my friend who had the same surgery completed by Dr. Cleveland and he also had very positive results. The perception that Army doctors provide average to mediocre care is simply not true based on my experience. I would recommend even my family members to be seen here.

  • Anterior Lumbar Interbody Fusion (ALIF) Dr. Cleveland Womack Army Medical Center May 2020 My procedure was well implemented after much deliberation. I was stationed on and off Ft. Bragg since 1996 and I have heard the horror stories of Womack surgeries. I had encountered major back issues after serving over 2 decades. I had multiple non-evasive procedures to correct the issues and nothing provided lasting relief. I received a referral to an orthopedic surgeon to discuss my options. Prior to the appointment I received updated x-rays to identify the problem areas. I met with Dr. Cleveland, he discussed my options and walked me though the x-rays, risks, and my factors. He said “I am not forcing this on you. I want you to want the surgery”. I elected to have the surgery rather than not. Due to the covid-19 pandemic I wasn’t able to get the surgery until 2 months later. Everyone is different and I am still in recovery so no major changes yet. However, the Womack staff was great and Dr. Cleveland was top notch.

  • After being seen by my PCP at Clark clinic for numbness in my arms and fingers (result of not keeping chin on chest during landing on an Airborne Operation). This resulted on a severe whiplash causing disk herniation between C4-5 which was later exposed by X-Rays and MRI that were scheduled right away. After reviewing my images my PCP immediately referred me to DR. Andrew W. Cleveland who contacted me within 24 hours and explained to me his findings and went over all recommended courses of actions for my condition. DR. Cleveland was very patient and thorough in his explanation of my condition which helped me make the best decision for my case. So the choice was to perform a C4-5 cervical disk arthroplasty. The appointments for the procedure was scheduled within a few days of identifying the condition which was GREAT since I haven’t been able to sleep due to pain in my arms. So, from the initial check in into my appointment for the surgery, to being informed in very detail by the anesthesiologist team, to the recovery team it was all so organized, smooth and friendly service that I had to come here and ensure they are all recognized for their great dedication and job well done! I’m on 6th day of recovery and feeling 100% better than what I felt before surgery!

  • I had Cervical Disk Arthroplasty on July 15th. I was then released from the hospital with a clean bill of health. Doctor Cleveland, Andrew did an amazing job on my surgery and took great personal care in my situation to make sure i was taken care of and comfortable. Today is the 21st and i am Recovering remarkably. The nurses and his team where all kind and deeply considerate (considering i had surgery on my birthday, this was a blessing.) They were understanding and extremely professional. The Anesthesiologist team made it seem like the surgery was done in mere moments, one second i was on my way to surgery the next i was waking up in recovery. This experience with all the staff who was assigned to me made me deeply grateful to Womack and the Army medical teams. Thank you for the kindness and professionalism, your care and dutiful diligence to your oaths and myself. If i could rate this Team and hospital a 100/10 I would. Regardless of the other reviews and past experiences this is by far the best care i have ever received from Womack. I HIGHLY Recommend Doctor Cleveland and his team, for the rest of my life i have them to thank for the use of my left arm and the fix to my spine as well as the relief from the agonizing pain i was in for the last 5 months. Even now i can type out this review better due to them. As a 27 year old in the military to have such an invasive surgery they may have simply given me a new future. Words Cannot express how thankful i am. I hope this review reaches those it needs in the higher echelons of the medical command and Womack staff so they see how dedicated this team is to not only their patients but to the betterment of Womack its reputation and the Army Medical System as a whole. Thank you for the lives you change and the futures you save. I and my family for one will be forever grateful. SGT Wedekind, Cody A. USA

  • For several years, I have struggled with a painful issue dealing with my lower back. Finally, after several consultations with other medical personnel and requesting an updated MRI, Dr. Cleveland quickly reached out to me and setup up an appointment for consultation. During the consultation, Dr. Cleveland thoroughly discussed the findings of the MRI and what his recommendations were moving forward. Dr. Cleveland was not rushed during the consultation and addressed all my concerns ( I finally knew what was causing my pain) and I left the consultation with full confidence in Dr. Cleveland. Surgery was scheduled for a L3-L4 TLIF with decompression procedure and all went well. Post surgery, Dr. Cleveland continues his professionalism and genuine compassion for the patient. I highly recommend Dr. Cleveland and his Orthopedic staff.

  • Surgeon: Dr. Cleveland Orthopedic surgeon Procedure: Spine, L4/L5 Decompression Dr. Cleveland done a tremendous job on my spine. His professionalism and his will to communicate with his patient one on one via personal cell phone makes him a one of a kind surgeon. Careful, caring, willing to listen, not pushy, fast communication through personal text or call, excellent surgeon. This is my second operation here at Womack, first operation was done by Dr. Jackson in 2018 for spinal cervical laminoplasty. Dr. Jackson highly approves of Dr. Cleveland's competence as a surgeon and doctor. Staff done a good job during post-op care as well.

  • Surgery With Dr. Cleveland, Orthopedic Surgeon. My experience with a disc replacement in my neck was excellent. While in Dr. Cleveland's care; I felt taken care of in a manner that should me a model for other surgeons to follow. I was shown the issues with my neck/spine and I was offered choices in what the best route would be for me to take. Throughout the assessment, pre-surgery, surgery, and follow-up exams, my care was the best I could ask for. I appreciate this type of health care and my recommendation to peers that have similar neck/spine issues will be to ask for Dr. Cleveland. Thank you to you and your staff for taking good care of me!

  • Dr. Andrew W. Cleveland III, M.D. Orthopedic Spine Surgeon Procedure: L5-S1 Anterior Lumbar Fusion I personally want to thank Dr. Cleveland and his Anesthesiologist team for their outstanding professionalism and dedication to their work to ensure every patient gets the care they need. I can tell you from experience that I would definitely do it all over again because you will not find another doctor that can provide the experience, knowledge and skills that Dr. Cleveland has, he treats you like a human being and literally cares about your recovery and post treatment. His nursing staff and the orthopedic radiology inside the clinic are top notch, I always have the best experiences while being seen there. The Commander of Womack Army Medical Center should be proud to have such an outstanding Spine Surgeon. Thanks Doc, I know this is past due!!!!

  • Awesome. I get it everyone has had a good and bad experience with not just WAMC but every military hospital, to include myself. I had a neck fusion that was very successful. The old timer kept telling not to do it or don’t let WAMC do it. Well, I am glad I didn’t listen. My doctor (Dr. Cleveland) was God send, very informative and knowledgeable. The entire staff was also amazing. He cured over 3 years of chronic neck pain. From the bottom of my heart, thank you

  • I am so grateful to Dr. Cleveland and his staff in orthopedics. Through my active lifestyle I have had the opportunity to meet many surgeons at a few hospitals but none as confident and professional as Dr. Cleveland. During the initial consultation he gave me a few options and we decided on a L5 – S1 ALIF surgery. His candor and confidence settled all of my apprehensions for lumbar fusion surgery. The morning surgery went well, I spent one night in the 2nd floor recovery wing and I was able to go home for lunch the next day. Dr. Cleveland has even corrected my posture problem that I didn’t realize I had and I immediately have no more sciatica or back pain and I never had to take any of the pain medication that I was given. After six weeks of no bending, lifting or twisting I was told no physical restrictions. At 8 weeks I am “carefully” returning back to mountain biking, motocross and weightlifting with absolutely no back pain at all. Dr Cleveland has greatly improved my quality of life and I am always treated like family by everyone in the orthopedics section, family that they like.

  • I recently had a discectomy at Womack under the care of Dr. Cleveland. I was super nervous about this at first as many people close to me had reservations about allowing an Army surgeon to perform on my spine. Dr. Cleveland not only moved up my surgery by about 5 weeks to get me seen as soon as possible but also made sure to accommodate time to be available for all of my follow up appointments. Had my surgery April 24th, 3 days later it was like someone flipped a switch. I went from being unable to walk, bend or even twist past 30 degrees to being almost back to how I was before my injury. I’m writing this now a month later to confirm I am fully healthy and returning to physical therapy and looking at a full recover. Thank you so much to the Ortho team and Dr. Cleveland for taking such great care of me. Don’t be afraid to let an Army surgeon take care of you, you’ll be in great hands!

  • Dr. Andrew W. Cleveland III, M.D. Orthopedic Spine Surgeon Procedure: L4-L5 TLIF with decompression I’m extremely thankful for the procedure Dr. Cleveland conducted on my spine. Dr. Cleveland attention and the nurses assisting him provided an excellent service. It’s very sad to see Dr. Cleveland departing to another health facility, I really confirm Dr. Cleveland is the best spine surgeon in the Fort Bragg area.

  • Dr. Cleveland (ortho) and Dr. Patel (Pain Clinic) are two of the finest doctors I've dealt with in my 21 years TIS. They recognized my severity, directly coordinated and consulted with each, and expedited my case. If it were not for these two's out-of-box network skills and commitment to their craft, I would still be in agonizing pain for another 6 weeks. Womack will suffer a great loss if/ when they lose these 2.
